While a quick Google Search for the Loire Valley will reveal a mélange of ancient castles and gastronomic history, this region is far from over the hill: Despite nearly five centuries of winemaking expertise, the Loire Valley is one of France’s most exciting wine regions, with scores of new producers crafting exceptional wines… often at prices that defy modern logic.

The combination of ancient terroirs and boundary-pushing winemakers makes the Loire Valley a veritable Eden for sommeliers and retailers, as Master Sommelier and Loire native Pascaline LePeltier recently reminded Wine & Spirits Magazine. Many of these producers represent the next generation of established winemaking families, and their interpretations of the Loire Valley’s flagship terroirs are dynamic, interesting expressions of classic grapes. From bright, crisp Melon de Bourgognes, better known as Muscadet, grown near the Atlantic Ocean to chiseled, powerful Chenin Blancs, there are tons of new wines emerging from the Loire that are ready to dazzle.

Check out Pascaline’s recommendations, and see for yourself!
